Are you looking for a way to savor the delights of a dreamy, possibly healthy treat and be ecologically conscious at the same time?
Then Velvet Yogurt in San Clemente is your kind of place! Faye Clapp, the proprietor and UCLA alumnus who owns and operates Velvet Yogurt along with a staff of young ladies (no men hired yet!) provides cups and spoons that are 100% biodegradable and compostable, doing her part to keeping Southern California clean. So much so that Faye and Velvet Yogurt received a 2010 Earth Day Award from the San Clemente WaterShed Task Force.
Now let’s talk about the yogurt. I’ve been around the world and taste a lot of deserts and hands-down, Velvet Yogurt is the creamiest “healthy” yogurt I have ever tasted. No “icy’ crystals in this yogurt. There are 6 self-serve machines serving a total of 12 flavors. Plus, there are healthy toppings and… the not so healthy toppings to complete your treat. My favorite? A little bit of Irish Mint and a little bit of Cookies and Cream with those “not so healthy” chocolate sprinkles!
Pricing is all done by weight. Fill your cup and put it on the scale. Average size yogurt treats run approximately $3.00.
Get a punchcard for 20% off your 11th treat. And never forget that Friday from 3-6pm is 50% off Happy Hour! (Let’s see, how can I make that a Happy Dinner Meal….)
If you are in San Clemente, do not miss a stop at Velvet Yogurt. And when you get there, ask for Faye and say hello!
